Jim O'Neill, a 65-year old pilot, suffered a stroke a 5, 500 ft in the air and ended up (with lots of help) landing his plane Blind. The 65 year old pilot was flying in a Cessna plane on Friday when suddenly he was blind. The pilot scared and feeling helpless called for help over the radio. A nearby Royal Air Force pilot finishing up a practice run nearby answered the call and helped guide the pilot to safety by talking him through it. The author seems simply amazed by this story and frankly so am I. Being an Air Force ROTC cadet I have seen how complicated flying can be first hand and as far as I am concerned it is an incredible feat to land a plane blind (no matter how long you have been flying). The story gives us details but I want to know How landing this pilot really landed a plane Blind? the whole idea is just mind boggling.
